Handle Your Backyard Business

But Jesus said to them, “Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor.” And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” Matthew 13:57-58

Most of our supporters and partners of “Notes of Inspiration” are from other countries around the world, ninety-five percent to be exact. At one time I was concerned as to why we did not have more domestic partners, since The United States of America is where NOI was founded. However, the scripture makes a lot of sense. Sometimes people get excited and feel that information, opportunities, events and other things are more valid when coming from outside places or spaces. For example, it may seem more exciting to meet someone from New York who may be saying and doing the same things as your friends from your own hometown. But because that person is from New York it seems that the person has more insight or is more interesting. However, if it seems that you have not been appreciated for your contributions to others or the community, be encouraged. It does not mean that what you have is not just as wonderful as an outsider. It is the unfortunate mentality of people. They do not always appreciate the talents, gifts, contributions and even blessings that are often in their own “back yard”. Continue to do what you do well and if you have the opportunity, travel and share what you have with others. If you don’t have time to travel you can do like we do here at NOI. You can share it all over the world internationally with technology. Stand firm and be encouraged to know that you matter and the wonderful things that you have to share are fantastic things in the back yard. Do now fret if people do not honor you in your hometown or where you are. What you have is just as wonderful. Even Jesus himself had to slow down on doing miracles in the hometown because of the people’s mentality and lack of faith. Your “backyard business”(your ministry, insight, information, advice, encouragment, gifts, talents…etc) is awesome. Keep up the good work, spread it and take it everywhere you go. Somebody somewhere needs you! :)
