Stay Close

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want” Psalms 23:1

It is quite amazing how God operates. We are like sheep and he is the good shepherd. He takes care of our needs on a daily basis.  When shepherds herd their sheep, the sheep have good and wonderful protection from scavengers as long as they are near the shepherd. But if the sheep stray away and wander way off, protection is limited because the sheep are too far away.  So if the sheep that have wandered way off have any needs, it is difficult for the needs to be met because the sheep are too far away from the shepherd.  Imagine this concept with the Lord. He never leaves us, so, if there is any discrepancy about needs and nearness, it is we who wander away from God. If we stay close to him, it is easier for him to protect us, provide for our needs, and take care of us. The key is that we need to draw nearer to God. So, in retrospect, the Lord is our shepherd and we shall not want, if we stay close!
