Are you Dating? Do your Research.

Patrice Tankard

When you are meeting new people and they show interest in your life, make sure that you pay attention to some details. If someone is trying to get to know you on a personal level, take the time to do your research. Be mindful of giving out personal information and location of your residence to acquaintances that you have not known a long time. Watch for signs and red flags that indicate that this person is too good to be true. Do internet searches and background checks to make sure you are not dating a sex offender,  a criminal or someone who has potential to disrupt your life. Remember, they will be polite and very charming. But pay that no mind.

I was in a relationship with a guy who  perpetrated, lied, was a criminal and emotionally, mentally, physically and financially abusive. I did not know these things about him at the beginning of the relationship. He was someone I had known from childhood and I thought I knew him. However, that relationship taught me so many lessons and ended up working in my favor. I now know the signs and what to look for when I’m dating. Because of my previous negative experience, I date men who are the cream of the crop in kindness, personality,  excitement, appearance, sex appeal, professional and connected to the media industry and financially stable. You can save yourself from a lot of heartache, financial, emotional and physical devastation by thinking and acting wisely.  Always do your research. It is more than worth it. Plan for a happy and peaceful life. You will be happy that you did.
