Can They See Me?

“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty…” Psalms 91:1

When I was in elementary school there were a couple of children who did not like me. They picked on me everyday, took my lunch money, and threatened to beat me up after school. I was afraid of them and dreaded attending school. After my parents contacted their parents and the school the bullying did not ease up. This became stressful to me. My mother suggested that I start reading the entire division of the 91 Psalms everyday before going to school. I tried it. It was then that I realized the meaning of being in the “secret place” of God and abiding under his shadow. The more I read that passage, the less the bullies wanted me. Each day at school those kids would look at me in disgust but they would not bother me. Then they started totally ignoring me. I would ask myself occasionally, “Can they see me?” Eventually, when I walked by them, they acted like they didn’t see me. Each day God continued to protect me and allowed me to dwell in his secret place of favor. He began to hide me from the spiritual darts and arrows of my enemies. Yes, the bullies were still there but they couldn’t see me anymore. In other words, they saw me with their physical eyes, but their evil desires to hurt me were “blinded” by the protection of God. I was hidden in God. God can hide you from the spiritual darts and arrows of your enemies or situations in your life that beset you. Trust him to protect you as you “hide” in Him.
