Thanking God For Life

I am reflecting on the one-year anniversary of a life-changing event. Last year on September 11, 2025, I slipped away in death at my home and was brought back to life through God and my sister(P.J. Jacobs), until the paramedics arrived.

Death came first, followed by the diagnosis of a very rare but deadly cancer, carcinosarcoma. Death even came twice the day after my cancer surgery, six months later. But God rescued me again.

I am so grateful to God for His grace and for the gift of life.

Hold your loved ones close. Life is so precious.

Thank you to everyone who loves me and prays for me. I love you all.

Your Thoughts Matter

In all your efforts in life, remember to think happy thoughts. You will feel better and hopefully it will relieve stress. Your thoughts have a lot to do with your emotions. Your emotions have a lot to do with your health.  Thinking positive thoughts, meditating and staying calm will improve your happiness. Try it!

Protect Your Peace

I wake up everyday with excitement and vigor. There’s a certain energy that encompasses that type of mentality. My day starts at 5:00A.M. A warm shower, prayer, meditation, a drink of water,  slow stretches,  and a green smoothie are just parts of my morning routine. Sometimes I read and other times  I sew or write. These are wonderful and calming things that I do before I leave home. By the time I get to work, I am in an amazing space mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Greeting people with love and smiles come easy. However, if someone approaches me with negativity, drama or discord, I will quickly try to diffuse the situation. There is no way that I will allow anyone to usurp the serenity that I just spent all morning creating. It is my determination to enjoy and protect my peace.  Never let anyone pull you into their drama or foolishness.  Pull away and guard your serenity. Never allow anyone or anything to take your peace. Enjoy your life.

What are you looking at?

Whatever you visualize in your mind, and whatever you focus on can materialize in your life. How do you see your future? What are you striving for to happen in your life? Do you see yourself being more successful? Do you see yourself healthier? Do your see yourself enjoying greater and more improved relationships? Do you see yourself wealthy and blessed? Whatever you see in your mind is what you are looking at. Make sure that you are looking at what you want to happen. What are you looking at?

God is our Help

“Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.” Psalms 54:4 NIV

I love this scripture. It gives me hope and keeps me going. Being happy every day is a wonderful forte for me. It is my personal goal to find a reason to be happy every single day in spite of troubles and challenges. Surely God is my help and he helps me to remember what is important and why I should be thankful. But I really love the second part of the verse that says, “The Lord is the one who sustains me.” The dictionary defines the word “sustain” like this: “to support, hold, or bear up from below; bear the weight of, as a structure.”  Well, that is awesome because there are some days that I need the Lord to support me, hold me up from below and definitely bear the weight of problems and issues. And of course it goes without saying that I am the “structure” that he is holding up. Have you ever needed God to sustain you and hold you up? Losing a loved one is an example of that need for God to sustain you. When I think of my parents I am in need of being sustained. They are deceased but were great parents and worked in ministry together as a Pastor and Evangelist. I am so grateful that they gave me the most important thing in life. They introduced me to Jesus. They knew that I would need the Lord to sustain my life, especially after losing them. Surely God is my help and the Lord is the one who sustains me. He is your help and he will sustain you.

It’s All About the Journey

In the last year, my life has been turned upside down with all types of unexpected challenges, blessings, surprises, revelations and new perspectives. During this time I found out who really cared about me, and the love that I have been shown has been beautifully overwhelming. So much has happened and too much to write in this post. I think that a documentary would be more fitting. For those who know some of what has happened to me, please let me know if you think I should share my experiences in a documentary or book. Please let me know your thoughts. Through it all, I am grateful to be alive(If you know, you know). It’s all about the journey and not just the destination.

Grab a Hold to Life

Be grateful for everyday of waking up and breathing. Life is precious and sometimes short. Make every day count and fill it with purpose, love, intention, compassion, happiness and expectation. Grab a hold to life, hold on tight and enjoy it while you can.

Much love,

Patrice Tankard

Take in the Day

With all that is going on in the world and with things being uncertain, one thing that is certain is that you are yet alive! Count your blessings and enjoy one day at a time. Take a deep breath with appreciation, think positive thoughts, pray constantly and take in the day. Relax. Thrive. Believe. Receive.

You Are the God

“You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.” Psalms 77:14

This is the God that I am looking for. The true and living God is one who is exceptional in all that he does. He works miracles! That means that blessings will overflow. These blessings will come out of obscurity. When God gets ready to display his power, it is usually for a good reason and with good cause. Be prepared for his hand of glory to overtake your life. Expect God to work miracles in your life and expect him to display his glory to you this year like never before. Expectation is the key! Expect! He is the God.
