Only He Can Heal The Heart

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” John 14:1

This scripture is quoted at funerals a lot. It is probably considered a passage that brings comfort to the heart of families who are in bereavement. I thought about this scripture because just recently I received a phone call that one of my Pastor friend’s son was killed last night. What a sad situation. How does one find comfort in such a tragedy?

“Let not your heart be troubled” lends an insinuation that we have at least some power or control over how much our heart is troubled. Leaving the heart the way it is without belief and trust in God may bring depression, devastation and a mental state of despair. But if we believe in the Lord, trust him and allow him to comfort us, we have a better chance of getting through the situation.

This word is not just for losing loved ones. It is for everything that besets us. Things that trouble our hearts such as death, emotional, physical, and financial issues can be met head on with the word of God. The word of God stands strong no matter what the situation. Decide to trust your heart to the father in heaven. Only he can heal the heart.

Praises of Thanksgiving

“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his love endures forever.” Psalms 118:1

Today, I will honor the Lord with praises of thanksgiving and gratitude.  No complaining. All day only positive things shall come out of my mouth. I will bless the Lord at all times and his praises shall continually be in my mouth. Try this all day and see if you will feel a lot better. You will notice that your situation does not feel as intense as before. The atmosphere will change for the better and most of all, the Lord will love it!

Protection

“May the Lord answer you when you are in distress, may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.” Psalm 20:1

We give thanks to God for protecting us during Hurricane Matthew. There was damage to property and lives were lost, especially in Haiti. We pray for comfort and peace to those who were impacted. We give thanks for surviving and we acknowledge his power of protection.

Packed With Possibilities and Rewards

“Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labor, blessings and prosperity will be yours. Thus is the man blessed who fears the Lord and may you live to see your children’s children.” Psalms 128:1, 2, 4, 6

I don’t know about you but this scripture makes me feel so happy way down on the inside. Walking in the ways of the Lord and fearing him pleases him. Fearing the Lord also brings blessings and who would not be happy about that? To fear the Lord means to honor him in Holy reverence and respect. Obedience to God brings blessings. Living to see your children’s children is another outstanding blessing on its own. This scripture is packed with possibilities and rewards. Grab a hold to these concepts and enjoy the favor of the Lord.
